The Patron of the KIIT Arbitration Centre (KAC) will be Honourable Founder, Dr. Achuta Samanta, Founder, KIIT and KISS. Chairman of the Centre is Prof. (Dr.) N.K. Chakraborti, Director, School of Law, KIIT University; Vice-Chairman of the Centre is Prof. Steve K. Ngo, International Arbitrator and academic, among others visiting faculty to School of Law, KIIT University and National Law University, Delhi.
Faculties associated with the Centre are Mr. Aswini Patro, as Convenor and Dr. Puranjoy Ghosh and Mr. Sthita Prajna Mohanty as Co-Convnors.
The Centre will be operating with the help of a “Advisory Body” which will be headed by Prof. Steve K. Ngo and members will be experts from industry, academia, and legal profession etc.
The Centre will have four committees which will be run and managed by the student volunteers led by student Convenor Mr. Sarthak Singhdeo and student Co-ordinator Mr. Siddhant Sarangi with the help of faculty convenors.

Objective for establishment of KAC
KAC is established to bridge the academia and practice. Through academic and practical activities of promoting alternative dispute resolution and arbitration, the convergence of academic and practice can further the research on theory of arbitration and formulation of best practices for practitioners not just in India but globally. KAC aims to be the leading knowledge hub and Academic Research Centre of Excellence of arbitration in India and seek to engage the wider world through collaborations and cooperation.
Academic and Other Activities
KAC aim to collaborate leading Arbitration Institutions (like ICC, ICA, SIAC etc.) having national or international repute. Also, this Centre aims to come up with a peer review journal on Arbitration Studies once it attains some level of recognition. The Centre also aims to promote skill development of students, lawyers, and other professionals through training programmes, workshops, distance courses under the scope of certificate programme. KAC will administer arbitration proceedings referred to it and aims to serve arbitration community and users in eastern India, complimenting major arbitration centres currently concentrating in Delhi and Mumbai. This initiative is in line with Prime Minister Modi’s aim to turn India into the next arbitration hub.
Collaboration with other University/Organization/Institution
The proposed Centre aims to collaborate with arbitral institutions like Indian Council of Arbitration (ICA), Indian Institute of Arbitration and Mediation (IIAM), Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (CIArb) at the national level; and Singapore International Arbitration Centre (SIAC), UNCITRAL, International Court of Arbitration, International Chambers of Commerce (ICC), International Centre for Settlement of International Dispute (ICSID) at international level for joint/specialized research projects.
